Submitted for your consideration is a charming item that consists of a print of duck decoys and an actual copy of the 1975 Department of the Interior Duck Stamp that was produced from this model. The noted naturalist artist, James Fisher, created both the print and the stamp. This is a rather rare and unusual item. The 1975 stamp was the only issue that depicted decoys. Additionally, “Canvasback Decoy”, was painted in watercolor and it represents the only occasion that James Fisher entered the Duck Stamp competition.

Fisher began his artistic career by copying each plate from Ernest Seth Thompson’s Art Anatomy of Animals. This painstaking exercise no doubt equipped him with an understanding of the nuances of capturing nature on canvas, and this skill led to his 1975 assignment. He also earned his living for a time by creating those wonderful old movie posters that are in such demand from collectors today. The print and stamp are in excellent condition. The frame is also in excellent condition, although there is some damage to the backing as shown.

Please consider that this item not only represents a unique and unusual subject for the annual duck stamp program, but it also provides the buyer with a philatelist prize, the stamp itself. We can offer this exceptional piece of artwork for $575.00.
