Antique Charcoal Landscape in Ornate Period Oval Frame

Submitted for your consideration is a stunning unsigned landscape in what appears to be its original frame that dates from the turn of the 20th century. Please note the hauntingly attractive imagery created by this talented artist. The scene is of a tree lined brook cast in the background of a beautifully colored sky. The sky is blue with white clouds and flashes of yellow. What a lovely backdrop for the naturalistic depiction of the grove, highlighted by magnificent trees and rich green foliage.

We purchased this wonderful work from a stately New Canaan, CT home where it was prominently displayed in a large formal living room. The picture measures 18.5” by 12.5” and the framed work is 18” by 24”. The artwork is in excellent condition but the same cannot be said for the frame. As shown in the photographs, there are a number of flaws, especially to the center of each of the four cartouches. These imperfections actually contribute to the items overall antique effect. We can offer this wonderful one of a kind artwork for $425.00.
