Hardwood Cellarette with Metal Handles

Submitted for your consideration is a large cellarette with a hinged lid and metal handles. This is a lovely piece. The cellarette measures 12” by 11” and it has metal handles on each side of the work. Traditionally, these wooden boxes were used to transport wine or spirits. On the inside of the box one can see that there were cutouts for long since gone wooden slats that would have assisted in holding the bottles in place. This is a charming work that can continue its original purpose by serving as a resting place for spirits at a bar, it could be used as a compartment to store any small household goods, or it could be a simple yet elegant decorative item for any home.
