Dedicated to Finding Value as well as Beauty!
Submitted for your consideration is a spectacular bronze over white metal sculpture of a young woman at a well by the famous French sculptor, Henri Ple (1853-1922). Henri Ple was admitted as a member to the highly respected Societe des Artistes in 1887. His exhibited at many major salons in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and was an award-winning artist.
Please note the exceptional detail of this magnificent work. The maiden is beautiful and she is adorned in a long, traditional peasant dress. She is seen resting next to a water well, the bucket to the well under her left hand. The well itself is decorated with a floral motif, a traditional theme of the Art Nouveau period. The well includes a metal chain for lowering the bucket in order to obtain one’s refreshment. The patina of the piece is gorgeous as shown in the photographs. A rich brown hue covers the figure, while hints of green enhance the image of the well and ground.
Henri Ple’s works have sold at some of the finest auction houses in the world. We have seen works of this quality and size from this artist fetch prices approaching $10,000.00, but thanks to a savvy purchase we can offer this exceptional example of a master artist’s work for only $2400.00.
