Victorian Paper Mache Decorated Box with Mother of Pearl Inlays and Bun Feet

Submitted for your consideration is a beautifully decorated Victorian Paper Mache box that has mother of pearl inlays and bun feet. Please note the way the artist has skillfully employed the mother of pearl and the red and gilt paint to form an elaborate bouquet of flowers as the central image of the cover of the box. The gilt paint with red and green highlights are then used to decorate both the cover’s border as well as the sides and back of the work as demonstrated in the photographs. The simple bun feet complete the elegant image of this box. This is truly a stunning item that would grace any dresser or coffee table.

The box measures 10” by 8” and is 5.5” high. It is in excellent condition with only some minimal loss to the gilt paint. The inside of the box probably had an insert that is missing, but this does not detract from either the beauty or the functionality of the item. We are able to offer this lovely relic from the Victorian age for $775.00.
