Dedicated to Finding Value as well as Beauty!
Rosenthal’s Versailles Dinnerware dates from 1894, and as such is one of the earliest lines in this great company’s history. The name Versailles conjures up the image of the magnificent French gardens and this beautifully hand painted plate was no doubt homage to that majestic landscaping. This is quite a lovely piece. The plate has an ornate gold handle that is matched by three intricate gold designs and a golden rim that surround the porcelain piece. The theme is floral, and delicate pink and white blossoms decorate the plate in four separate groupings. The background is a light green with yellow overtones. The condition of this work is excellent given the fact that it has now seen three different centuries in its history. There are no chips, cracks, crazing, hairlines or restorations. The paint is in excellent shape with one tiny brown mark under the two center flowers that may well have been part of the original process and in no way detract from the work’s beauty. The plate measures 7” in diameter and would grace a cabinet or shelf on a stand in any home. Our price is $225.00 for this lovely antique.
