Submitted for your consideration is a beautifully decorated porcelain trinket box by the famous Italian company, Richard Ginori. This company can trace its origins back to 1735 when Carlo Ginori started a hard paste porcelain factory in a small town out side of Florence. At that time, the only two other hard paste porcelain producers in Europe were Meissen in Germany and Du Pacquier in Vienna. This company’s products were a favorite of the Medici’s and were collected by such luminaries as Napoleon and his wife (Marie Louise of Austria), Franz II and the Khedive of Egypt. In 1896 the firm merged with Giulio Richard a Milanese concern, and to this day their name is synonymous with the production of high quality wares.
Please observe the delicate design of this vintage treasure. The white porcelain box is decorated with four cartouches of dark green laurel wreaths that encircle bright pink Amalfi (Antique) Roses. On the base, the images are large and adorn each side of the item, while the same image in a smaller version decorate the cover on both sides of the handle. This flower along with Italian fruits is the traditional hallmark of this famous factory, and both images are represented in this piece. (The handle of the box is in the form of luscious pear.) A ribbon of yellow that is housed in a gold runner frames both the cover and the body. Note the delicate design inside that patch of yellow that enriches the appearance of this beautiful work. The box measures 3" in height and 5.5" in width. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, hairlines or restorations. What a wonder addition to a bedroom dresser this would make!
