Submitted for your consideration is a vintage Carl Schumann Porcelain flower charger plate from their Bavaria factory. Carl Schumann had quite interesting business relations with companies from the U.S. The facility was one of a few who produced items for Ebeling & Reuss which then were sold under the 'Erphila Germany' mark. Another little known fact is that the 'Carl Schumann Porzellanfabrik A.G.' was one of the few German companies allowed to produce Mickey Mouse figurines under license from Disney. They used a beautiful add created by 'Zereiss & Co.' to promote these porcelain products, featuring little Mickey’s performing a traditional Bavarian dance. Most of these so-called 'un-aryan' products were destroyed during the Third Reich period from 1934 to 1945 and are therefore among the rarest European pre-war Disneyana collectibles. This particular plate was manufactured in the 1960’s as per the plate’s mark.

This is a large Charger Plate. Charger plates are larger decorative plates used to dress up dinner tables at parties, weddings, and other special events. While charger plates have been around since the 1800s, they returned to popularity in the late `90s. Since food is not actually served on chargers, they are often called under plates or chop plates. Please observe the beautiful design of this lovely plate. The entire surface is bathed in a light green with splashes of rose apparent throughout. The perimeter is scalloped with a gold rim encircling the plate. The flowers are lustrous. They vary in shades of pink with bright yellow stems and emerald green buds. The leaves are a collage of hues from the traditional green to gold and a vibrant red. The changing colors of the leaves conjure images of crisp fall days. This large plate measures over 11 inches in diameter. It is in excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks or crazing of any kind. There is some small wear to the gold rim in one location that is barely noticeable and disappears when the plate is placed upon a stand. This is a lovely item at a most reasonable cost of $150.00.
