ITEM - Late 18thC Antique Porcelain Lidded Jar with Applied Flowers. Unusual Daisy Motif with Forget-Me-Not Knob. English, Staffordshire or similar. I am told this is late 18thC English by a very experienced dealer in porcelain, but please use the indicators to determine if that makes sense, or if it is early 19thC. No mark. All surfaces are glazed except the edge of the lid lip and the base ring. Inside the base ring is glazed and so is under the lid elsewhere. Flowers are all hand applied. There are a few spots in the clay which can be seen inside the bowl. The porcelain is thick with a cream tint. The maker is unknown. Measures 3 5/8" wide X 4" tall with lid.
CONDITION - Unbelievably good condition with no repairs. I see only three tiny chips on the lid - 1 flower petal on knob, 1 daisy on lid rim, and 1 chip in edge. See photos. There are also some random crazing lines inside but no staining. I do not consider imperfections in the flowers to be flaws. It is just the nature of the piece.
EXPERTS - If you could enlighten me further about the maker and any other info, I would very much appreciate it. I can not find anything like this in my books. Thanks!
