The Countdown to PLATINUM is ON!! ~ All Offers Will Be Considered ~ Just Send a Message... But Not in a Bottle...
This piece is in excellent condition and has an old C-style closure that holds securely. The hallmarks are 980 and TAXCO. 980 silver is 98% pure, so it is better than sterling, which is only 92.5 % pure. But it's not better than Ivory soap, which claims to be 99 and 44/100ths % pure... But that's not silver, so I'm not sure how it relates to this discussion at all... It's simply where my mind went, so my hands went along for the ride.
Measuring 1.75 inches tall as well as wide, this vintage pin, which likely dates to the 1920's to 1930's, weighs 16.5 grams. That's a solid piece of 980 silver! There is an interesting mark on the back that looked to me to be a rude streak made with an orange marker. I can tell you now that it is not. What is it? Why, it is a very interesting line of copper. I have no idea why it is there, but it is. It adds mystery and intrigue... who put it there and why? What does it mean? The world may never know.
This wonderful piece of Taxco silver history can be yours. Really. No kidding! Silver 980 doesn't tarnish the way that sterling silver does, so you won't have to polish this piece much... if ever. Now that's a bonus you can't take to the bank, but this piece will continue to increase in value as long as you care for it lovingly.
