The Countdown to PLATINUM is ON!! ~ All Offers Will Be Considered ~ Just Send a Message... But Not in a Bottle...
This piece has the same unusual hallmark as is found on a gorgeous brooch and earring set in my shop, item # S2006. I mention that only because the hallmark is more clearly shown on that set. I found it to be quite difficult to photograph the backside of a curved cat ear. The hallmark looks like a U with an extra line, or a B that is missing a line... This hallmark, as far as I know, has not been identified. The other hallmarks on the kitty key chain are HECHO EN MEXICO and 925, and it likely dates to the pre-1948 period.
This beauty weighs 5.5 grams and measures 1.5 inches long, 1 inch wide and 0.75 inches from the ears to the bottom of the head. It is in excellent condition with one small dent on the back of the kitty head on the left near where the silver bar connects to it.
The cone shaped tip of the tail is actually screwed on, so you can easily remove it, add your keys or paper clips or rubber bands or plastic milk jug rings or whatever you feel the urge to collect. Even if you choose not to use it to hold your collection, it makes a gorgeous addition to your Mexican silver collection or your cat collection.
What a great, whimsical gift idea too! Think of the fun you would have giving hints and letting the gift-ee try to guess what it is! Just write all the guesses down so that once the package is opened you can remind everyone how absurd the guesses were. See how easy it is to make a lot of fun out of the simplest things?
Ask me about my attempt to back my mom's behemoth of a car into a parking place at the grocery store. Let's just say, a good time was had by all.
