The talented Mexican silver artist who signed with AEM (AE inside of a heart-shaped M) is among my favorites. Her works are of very high quality, and she crafted quite a diverse set of items using a wide variety of materials.

This is one of the more unusual finds by AEM... a sterling silver book mark! It looks like a party waiting to happen inside your book! The fancifully dressed Senora is dancing around a sombrero... perhaps the Mexican Hat Dance? I can see it now. A mariachi band plays as the people dance in celebration, and those who are watching clap and shout. What are they celebrating? I'm not sure, but anytime you open a good bottle of tequila is a great reason to celebrate.

This delightful, vintage piece, which will cure that bad habit of turning down the corner of the page, is a terrific way to keep track of you place in the book of the week. It measures 1.9 inches in diameter, and is a solid 7.1 grams.

The circled lady is in fabulous condition for her age, since her proverbial date of birth is between 1955 and the 1970's. She is hallmarked on the back with the Eagle 23, which was used by several Ladies of Mexico, including Bernice Goodspeed and Estella Popowski. There is also the AE inside a heart-shaped M, surrounded by a HECHO EN MEXICO D.F. 0.925 circle.

This is an incredibly interesting addition to any collection, and one with great utility! You don't wear the same jewelry everyday, but you can always mark your book with this wonderful gift from one of Mexico's finest.
