Fri. Jan. 9, Ring in the New Year With a New Ring! Many Rings Being Added This Week!!
In Indian mythology there are stories of flying elephants and Airavata, the white elephant who became the vehicle of Indra and appeared from the churning of the milky ocean. Therefore, white elephants are considered very special and with the power to produce rain. They are identified as rain-bearing clouds, which will explain the belief in the flying elephants. In Indian society elephants were considered to bring good luck and prosperity. They were owned by the kings and used in wars.
Now, I could be entirely off the mark on this one, but this is obviously an elephant with wings...and it's no Dumbo.
There are interesting hallmarks on the back that I have not been able to identify. There is a copyright symbol, a portion of what appears to be an ornate cross and a portion of the word STERLING, just TER. The S is worn away.
The pendant is 0.75 inches by 0.75 inches and is on a sterling chain that is 16 inches long.
This is a wonderful and unique find for the collector or as a gift.
