Thurs. Jan. 8, Ring in the New Year With a New Ring! Many Rings Being Added This Week!!
There are 5 curved sections in this gorgeous piece, each with a Greek key design wrought from rosewood and sterling silver. Each section is just under 1.5 inches in length, and the outside circumference of the bracelet, when locked is 7 inches. Each section is 1 inch tall. This is quite a significant piece, weighing 1.6 ounces.
The hallmarks on this bracelet are wonderful. The artist's initials MCE are placed next to the word TAXCO, where the top of the T runs clear across the work Taxco. Beneath that is 925 and STERLING. On the other end is a glorious older Eagle 3 emblem, which dates this piece to between 1948 and 1955. There are additional initials that look like MVE.
The wood inlay is in excellent condition. There are a couple of joints that appear to be slightly separated, but a thorough examination reveals no real "damage". Think about what you would expect to see in a wood floor that was built about 60 years ago. This bracelet apparently has been cared for quite well. There is a spot that shows in the photos on the 3rd section. It is not nearly so obvious under magnification, and is smooth to the touch. It is a joint between the 2 pieces of wood inlay, and doesn't, at least to me, appear to be damage.
Sorry I haven't had any funny tales to tell of late...times are tough...but "I'll be back!"
