This beautiful bracelet fits perfectly on my wrist, and is easily adjustable to make it easy to put on. The sterling portion is 5.75 inches around and there is a 1.25 inch opening to make it 7 inches. The stone inlay is 0.86 inches high and the rest of the bracelet is 0.26 inches high. The only flaw I see is some minor surface scratches that are to be expected in a vintage piece.
This bracelet is at least 30 years old, as it is marked with an Eagle symbol, in this case, Eagle 2. It is likely that this piece was made between 1960 and 1978. Hey, that's the time frame when I was made too!
In addition to the Eagle 2, the artist's initials are in a TAXCO MEXICO 925 circle. I can't make out the initials, but it is interesting that the circle reads TAXCO, while the Eagle # is 2. The Taxco Eagle # is 3. Actually, many artists traveled around and there are instances where the city and the Eagle stamp don't agree. In Hougart's book on Mexican Silver Hallmarks, an example is shown on page 253, where the item was made in Taxco and stamped with the Eagle 1 symbol for Mexico City.
This variation, and the mystery of the artist's initials only adds suspense and intrigue to this piece. I guess it's the perfect bracelet for Nancy Drew...or maybe Daphne from Scooby Doo. Mystery and Suspense for the Girly-Girl. What could be better?
