Beautiful dark brown patina and wear which is to be expected for an instrument of this age, no open cracks. Various professional repairs to top and peg box. New matching pegs, button, tailpiece and chin rest. Label inside reads "Christian Fredrich Bauer, Cremonalis baviebat 17__" (last two digits unreadable). The back is branded BAUER. Partially hand painted hunting scene with the participants eating at a large table while the dogs wait at the door. 12" diameter potted with three holes in the foot ring for hanging. Some light knife scratches which are only visible when turned so that the glare is just right (see picture). Circa 1908
