Of the garnet pieces I found this weekend, this is, to me, by far the best.

Measuring approx. 2" long (from top of bale to bottom) x 1-3/16" wide, this Victorian Bohemian Garnet pendant locket features 4 tiers of garnets on top while the back has a swivel, glass protected locket. The locket size is 1-1/16" x 13/16" and opens easily and closes securely. All that's need now is your picture of treasured keepsake. Depth is pretty deep without a back panel, but if one is inserted, depth would be about 1/4".

The metal appears to be just gilded brass. There is evidence of a repair on the reverse but it is cleanly done and in keeping with the age of the piece. No garnets missing no signs of replacement stones, no chips or cracks to any of the stones that I can spot. The original bale to the pendant was once soldered shut but it is now open. This is not a tremendous faux pas as the locket isn't going anywhere, believe me. The back glass is very clean with no chips or cracks - just some very light surface wear that is again, age appropriate.

Overall, this is a really fabulous locket pendant needing only a chain or ribbon to set it off. Perfect the upcoming holiday season!
