Late 1800's Ornate Silver Plate Humidor Meriden B Company

This antique silver plate humidor was made by the Meriden B Company. It dates back to the late 1800's. It is ornately decorated with carved garden scenes of birds, flowers and leaves and what looks like a garden sundial. This scene is repeated around the sides of the humidor. These carvings are beautiful and show a lot of depth. The top is polished silverplate with two angel cherubs holding the center column.

There are four compartments. Two large and two small. There are locks for the two large compartments, but the keys have been lost. All the hinges work very well. The humidor is resting on 4 round feet. It is marked on the bottom with the Meriden B Company mark. It is a large item measuring approximately 11 1/4" X 8" and stands 3 1/2".

I do not find any dents. There are some marks on the top of one of the larger compartments. I tried to get these to show up in the picture but they did not show up very well. There are a few scratches and two small burn marks.

Considering the age and beauty of this piece, it is a wonderful item to own.
