Pear Shaped Pewter 5-Cup Teapot, Sheffield

This pewter, probably Britannia metal, teapot is shaped like a pear with ridges. It has a footed ringed base. It measures 7 1/2" tall and 9" from handle to spout. The handle has insulators characteristic of the period. The metal is soft and has been squashed somewhat on its base. There are also some dents. There is a repair on one side of the teapot. Another tiny hole can been seen with a light. The bottom is marked 5 and 64, a name which cannot be made out, Sheffield, and 1496 (this is not a date). This is 19th century.
