This sampler is unfinished. The date is missing due to the incomplete state. I would date this late 1700's or very early 1800's. It measures 9 1/2" x 16". The bottom is signed Christina Purvis Aged..... It has the alpha bet repeated in varying styles. There are also the numerals. The initials RPMC follow the numerals. The border has a wavy vine with stylized flowers. Again, the border is not complete. The sampler is done on unbleached linen with wood threads_ red green, purple. There are no holes. There are two small stains. The frame is wood with a faux finish. There is a gold inset. Fits the sampler quite well. The frame has some of the finish off of the right side.
