REDUCED Lovely Victorian English Papier Mache Slope Desk/ Box

This decorative lady's slope (lap) desk is black lacquered papier mache. The lid and sides are decorated with floral paintings and Mother-of-Pearl. The lid is scalloped. The box measures 10" x 13". There is a lock, but no key. The inside of the box has a leather surface_ one side lifts to reveal storage. There is a pencil/pen tray with compartments for ink bottles on either side. The top is bright and in very good condition. The hinges are original but the area around the hinges have been repaired. Some of the screws are replacements. There has been filler added to secure the screws and hinges. The leather is split at the point of the fold. There is one tear to the leather in addition. The corners have some scuffing. There is a label on the bottom for Story & Co., Ltd Depositories Kensington. The name T. Y. Wright, 56, 11/7/49. I assume this was put for sale at that time.
