This is a fairly common example of 19th century majolica. The pitcher measures 6 3/4" in height and 4" in diameter. The background is molded to resemble tree bark. On top of the tree bark are branches of wild roses. The handle is brown. The inside is the lovely pink of majolica of that era. The bottom has a 19 as the only mark. This pitcher does show its age with heavy crazing. There is a repair on the lip of the spout where a chip has been replaced. There are two other small chips on the rim and some wear to the glaze. Still a nice colorful original piece of majolica.
