This is a large box which was originally a lap desk. It appears that the inside has been reworked. Some of the original fittings are still intact. The box measures 15" x 10 1/8" x 6". It has side hinges. Part of the screws have been replaced. The lock is missing. One side of the box has no fittings or table. The other has a table, a place for ink wells, a pencil holder, and an unknown use compartment. There is wood inlay around the key hole. The two front corners have minor cracks in the veneer. The finish on the box has a nice patina. There are some faint water stains. This is a nice box to use or to restore.
