Cyber Monday SALE At Toinette's E-mail for Details! ALL WEEK Long!
Please look through the shop for more examples of pyrography (poker art) from this estate.
This beautifully decorated early pyrographed wooden box is very well made. It is profusely embellished with the image of an Alphonse Mucha-style Nouveau Lady in profile framed with painted iris blossoms. This is an unusual find in that BOXES WITH DRAWERS are hard to find and poinsettias and roses are the more commonly used motifs. It is inscribed on the bottom to Lyde from Mu (best I can make it out).
The brass hinges are stamped: WIZARD, F. Grammes & Sons: ALLENTOWN, PA. I believe this is a stationery box. It could also be used for jewelry or buttons. This piece measures 6 & 5/8 inches x 6 & 1/2 inches and is 2 & 3/8 inches high. The work is excellent. This piece is in very, very good condition noting a small chip and one split. See the pictures for the very fine condition.
Shipping is FREE for regular mail and delivery confirmation in the USA. International rates apply. Insurance always recommended, not paid by the seller. Multiple items combined for shipping.
