Fascinating porcelain box! Done in fine hard paste porcelain, this box is the shape of a leg. The leg is white with the molding of a stocking. It is hand painted with blue ribbon rosette garter, and pink embroidery on the "stocking" The high heel buckle shoe is done in shades of yellow, gold and blue with black highlights. Quite frankly I don't know if this is a snuff bottle, scent bottle or had some other function. It is a stunning vanity piece. SUPREME craftsmanship.

The collar and cap are sterling silver, marked .925. Please see the enlarged pictures for the mark: Mottahedeh, Vista Alegre, VA Portugal and: a gold metallic crown / tiara.

This famous European luxury porcelain has held to the highest standards since it was founded by Jose Ferreira Pinto Basto in 1824.

Splendid example of their figural work. It is 4 & 7/8 inches long. The shoe is 1 & 1/2 inch long and the cap is 1 & 1/2 inches across.

Condition is superb. No chips, cracks or repairs. The lid hinge is strong and works very well. The sterling shows minor scratches, as expected. This piece comes from the estate of a world renown Idaho family. I will be listing other outstanding and rare items from this estate in the coming months, if I can bear to part with them. Provenance will be supplied to the buyer.
