What a treat to find such a lovely old design in this larger size! Bust 36, hip 38. This very charming slip over dress has a choice of FOUR different sleeve treatments: long, tapered, long with flared cuff, short or sleeveless.
The ankle length dress closes at the left underarm with a draped upper part that is lengthened by a straight gathered flounce. Sleeves are sewn into the body lining. CHARMING draped bow accents the waist. The scoop neckline will look wonderful with a long, opera length necklace.
The unprinted pattern by Butterick is dated 1919 and 1923. It was originally designed for the 1919 silhouette. # 5093
Fabric suggestions on the envelope: crepe satin, plain or printed silk crepe, crepe de chine, brocaded chiffon, lace. Some color combinations suggested are: Beige with brown, light green with dark green. Use the dull side of crepe satin with the shiny side or combine printed and plain fabrics. (my suggestions: chiffon, voile, tissue cotton, lawn, modern synthetics with a filmy texture)
