These sterling vanity pins were all the rage at the end of the Victorian period and through the Edwardian Era of elegant femininity. This is an outstanding example of these pieces.
The pin mixes Art Deco and Art Nouveau design in the filigree openwork and heart shapes that meet in the middle. The rhinestones are lovely, sparkling and securely set.
It measures 1 & 3/4 inches long x 5/8 inches and "stands out" 1/4 inch, due to the layered construction. The pin is marked STERLING. It holds securely with the "c" shaped hook. This hook, at one time had a rotating mechanism. It holds securely as it is. I have NOT polished this piece. The contrast of the patina is too lovely to polish away.... even on the back. Condition is excellent ... minor scratches, Only the best for customers at Toinette's!
