10 x 12, beautiful quality, 15 full page stunning chromolithographs plus breathtaking frontispiece. Printed on heavier stock, all gold tipped pages, tissue protected illustrations. A definite Asian influence in design (the Chrysanthemum is the National Flower of Japan) an 8 page introduction about the flower. All poems are beautifully illustrated, mostly tri-color, some are dedicated. Titles are NEESIMA, KIOTO, MEDUSA, JARDIN DES PLANTES, TOKIO, LACINIATUM, LOVES MESSENGER, CULLINGFORDII, MOONLIGHT, OCTOBER BEAUTY, PETER THE GREAT, YOUNG LOVE, OTHER JEWEL (TO THE MRS C.H. WHEELER) CERES, LIGHT IN THE EAST, KING OF THE CRIMSONS, GOLDEN DRAGON, CHRISTMAS EVE LIFES HIGHEST GOOD. Epilogue in the rear has poem "The Golden Flower" Pink Linen boards, brown colored calico style endpapers. Contents beautifully clean and tight within themselves (2 very small nips out of 2 pages.) the book needs to be rebound however, spine seam completely split. Certainly worthy of the investment, they truly "don't make books like this anymore..." A most welcome addition to a collection, a scarce title and another wonderful example of the work of the well respected Louis Prang of Boston. Thanks for Looking!
