This is a charming pair of dormeuse earrings from France, circa 1880-1900. They are made of 18k gold and diamonds. The mounting is an extremely detailed series of of arched fleur-de-lys, and the diamonds measure 2.5 mm. across. They close at the front with a hinged back, and are stamped with the French eagle’s head mark for 18k gold. They weigh 2.5 g., and are about .3 in. by .5 in. I think you might be able to surmise from the photos that this is an extremely lovely pair of antique French earrings...Old diamonds can be cut in different ways: on this pair the bottom comes to a faceted point, and the top is also faceted.
