SALE Antique Enamelware Half-Moon Ashtray from France

This man-on-the-moon ashtray is from the Emaillerie Sable at Sable-sur-Sarthe in France (near LeMans.) It's a dark teal colour and it's made of cast iron heavily doused in porcelain enamel. The Sable Foundry, long-gone, made wood stoves and radiators, and other big heavy cast iron enamelware objects for the home; these half-moon ash trays were a kind of in-house publicity gift. This is a lovely work of art. The face is fantastic. Very, very rare....
