SATISFACTION GUARANTEED ~ Holiday Layaways ~ Multi-Purchase Discounts ~& a 1950s STEIFF TURKEY Looking for a Holiday Table!!
In the harder to find “Hudson” pattern, this little gem is 3 inches square and is in perfect condition with no physical damage, except for a very few, very tiny, extremely pale age spots around the outer edge of the rim. It is fully railroad backmarked for the NEW YORK CENTRAL LINES, to which it was supplied by distributor L. Barth & Son of New York City.
This butter pat was made between 1900 and 1941 by the Gérard, Dufraisseix and Abbott company as successor to Charles Field Haviland (who had retired from his business in 1881). It carries both Haviland mark #3, a red-orange overglaze “CH FIELD HAVILAND LIMOGES” printed inside a double circle, and the Gérard, Dufraisseix and Abbott mark #1, underglaze “GDA”in green. The GDA mark is faint but is present under the word “Lines.” Our backmark reference is Mary Frank Gaston’s “Collector’s Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain.”
What a superb addition to any RR or transportation china collection from the finest era of rail passenger transportation.
