Dunkin' Donuts Coffee Pink Banded China Mug by Jackson China 1971

This blushing pink logo coffee mug was made for the Dunkin Donuts restaurant chain in September 1971 by the Jackson China Company. This is very heavy restaurantware commercial china. The deep pink (almost mauve) band goes all the way around and there is a DUNKIN' DONUTS circle logo on both sides.

This is a standard size coffee cup, 3 inches tall and 3-1/2 inches across the top. It is in SUPERB condition with NO chips, cracks, flakes or repairs and spotlessly clean, sparkling bright glaze.

There are extremely light overall surface marks from use but these can't be seen unless you tilt it in bright light and look for them and even then they are almost impossible to see in the white areas; they show very lightly in the pink. There is absolutely NO suggestion of age yellowing or darkening anywhere.

The applied handle is as firmly attached as ever, perfectly solid.

This cup is bottom marked Jackson China , Falls Creek, Pa. U9 " (U is Jackson's date code for 1971, and 9 is September.)

A very nice representative of fairly early DD mugs that are difficult to find, this one would be a superb addition to any collection of diner or donut shop china.

BACKGROUND: Dunkin' Donuts, founded in 1950 in Quincy, Massachusetts, met with immediate success as a doughnut shop. Franchises were begun in 1955 and the rest (as they say) is history, with the chain having become a well recognized member of fast food restaurants worldwide.
