This is a very hard to find Seal Brown Welsh Pony, model #106. According to our Breyer Animal Collectors Guide by Browell, this model was made only from 1971-1974. It is the largest, or "Traditional" size.

It is darkest seal brown with slightly lighter areas at the shoulder and stifle, just like a real pony would have. Its mane and tail are black. It has 4 stockings and gray hooves. This pony's face is solid color (some apparently were made with a bald face). It has blue ribbons in its braided mane and tail. PLEASE LOOK AT THE PHOTO CLOSEUPS. Above the Breyer mark on its hind leg is the name C.HESS (for Christian Hess, the sculptor).

This pony is in fantastic condition. If it was ever played with, it was only with extreme care. Its ear tips are very sharp (the way they were molded) but don't show any rubs. We couldn't find any rubs anywhere. There are several tiny chips along the bottom edges of its hooves, but nothing more. It stands squarely, with no bent legs.

A superb addition to any grouping of hard to find vintage Breyer horse or pony models!

Browell gives this pony a value of $54.60 - $117.00 in her book. Apparently it is not an easy Breyer to find!
