This lantern is complete, straight, sound and solid. It is a terrific candidate for either painting or restoration with only light surface rust which should be cleaned but is not causing damage. There are no bends, twists, splits or cracks. There is a tiny pushed in spot at the very top of the smoke dome but nothing worse. There is NO pitting anywhere in the metal.
The globe displays beautifully with a strongly etched B&M. On the opposite side it is cast with the Cnx logo of its maker, Corning Glass, above MADE IN U.S.A. It is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips, only the expected rim scuffs from use.
Patent dates stamped into the lid of this lantern begin with July 30 1907; the latest date is December 18, 1910.
A nice find for any railway lamp or lighting collection, especially for a railfan from Maine or Massachusetts or the New England region.
