This Delaware & Hudson Railway ordered this commemorative china in 1983 to celebrate 160 years of canal and railroad transportation service in America.

This is an impressive big service plate size, in lovely condition with NO signs of use, only the very lightest wear to the gold rim and possibly a very light scratch or two on the surface of the plate (must tilt in bright light to find any).

Beautiful full color artwork depicts a canal boat on the Delaware & Hudson Canal Company canal which was the freight transportation predecessor of the railroad; and a diesel D&H locomotive hauling freight cars down the tracks. There are no markings on the back, which is correct for this plate.

While this ware did not ride the rails, it was railroad ordered and therefore collectible in its own right. It would be a fine addition to any RR china collection, especially for a D&H or New York or New England railfan.
