This exquisite set deserves to be a shelf piece. It was produced by the Gérard, Dufraisseix and Morel Company which took over the Charles Field Haviland company in Limoges, France when Charles Field Haviland retired in 1881 (hence the dual mark). The presence of the two bottom marks (both cup and saucer are identically marked) clearly identifies both the maker and time period.
Endearingly wistful lavender pansy faces and buds, completely hand painted, decorate this extremely delicate ware, with the rims heavily edged in gold. We can find absolutely no damage of any kind except for very minor wear on the gold on the handle and light scuffs on the bottom rim edge of the saucer (SEE PHOTOS) – this set has been lovingly cared for all this time.
The cup is only 2-1/4 inches tall and 2-1/4 inches wide. The saucer is 5 inches wide.
Pansies are a symbol of friendship - this set would be a wonderful gift for anyone who enjoys antique Limoges or tiny cups and saucers with floral decorations.
