Offered for sale is this book titled “Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo written by Captain Ted W. Lawson who participated in the first raid over Japan on April 18, 1942, just 4 months after the bombing of Pearl Harbor by Japan. Captain Lawson was one of the 16 pilots that flew B-25’s over Tokyo with the famous Major General James H. Doolittle, who was in charge of the mission. Captain Lawson gives first hand accounts of the raid and his days of adventure in China after being shot down and aided by the Chinese people and Chinese soldiers before finally returning back to America.

This is a first edition copyrighted in 1943 by Random House, Inc., of New York. The book was also published simultaneously in Canada by The Macmillian Company of Canada Limited. It was printed and bound in the U.S. by Kingsport Press, Inc., of Tenn. There are a total of 221 pages with 16 pages of black and white photos of pilots before and during their adventure in China. The book measures 5 1/4" wide x 7 1/2" long x 7/8" thick.

**Condition of dust jacket: Fair condition. The dust jacket has tears along the edges and some pieces missing(please see our larger photos to get a better look at the condition of this dust jacket and book).

**Condition of outside of book: Good condition. The outside cover of the book is very clean with just very tiny bumps on the corners of the book and minor wear at the top and bottom of the spine(please see our larger photos to be a better look at the condition of this book).

**Condition of inside pages: Very good condition. The inside pages are clean and bright. On the second page of the book in blue ink is the name of the person who owned the book.

If you’re a collector of WWII memorabilia, this will be a nice addition to your collection. Would also make a very nice gift to give to the VFW or American Legion in your home town. They surely would enjoy reading this great book. God bless our Vets!
