According to Ken Leach's book, "Perfume Presentations", this perfume bottle was made as a special presentation. I've never seen it before. It is made to look like a book and it is as heavy as a book too! This bottle was made for Kathryn Daumit Perfumes, of Chicago, Illinois in 1945.
There are some cracks in the bottle but it does not affect the sturdiness of the novelty perfume bottle. It actually looks like it was made with the cracks, but I found one in a book and it did not have these cracks. Full integrity to the bottle . There is no leakage. No lack of stability. I think it was made to look like an old leather book. A very sturdy novelty perfume bottle. Quite a detailed book. I'm not sure of the material, but it is heavy and has a beautiful gold finish over it.
The brass top unscrews and there is a long metal dauber. The perfume bottle held 3 FL. OZ. of the perfume "Forever Amber." On the back of the gold, heavy bottle it states, "Kay Daumit Inc. Chicago-Paris-New York Made in USA". The Kay Daumit Inc. later became "Kathryn" Perfumes.
The unique, novelty perfume bottle is 4 3/4" tall and 3 1/4" wide and 1" thick. The bottle is empty of perfume but still has the scent. Quite cool.
