Here is a really exceptional hand painted tea caddy from Austria. It is marked on the bottom. In perfect condition there is no cracks or chips to the piece. The hand painted scenes, one on each side, and the flowers are breathtaking. A superb piece. The top is Sterling and Hallmarked London 1894, with a gold wash to it. The repousse decoration on the top is lovely and its all in perfect shape with no dents. I'm not quite sure who the maker is. I've looked for awhile, but will add that info should I find it.

I purchased this from an antique store, and the owner of the booth had beautiful items. This just caught my eye. The colors are supreme, bright and soft. There is a cork lining up inside the sterling silver top. The top pulls off, and is quite heavy for sterling silver. 0.9 oz. There is a lot of gold paint in the design on top of the cobalt base color. The scenes are quite detailed and sharper then some of my pictures show (I will get some clearer ones done.)

The sterling top with gold wash has an ornate design of flowers, shells, and birds. Very Art Nouveau looking.

You don't find this quality very often. The tea caddy is 6 1/4 inches (16.2 cm.) tall with the stopper on. I find no signature on either side. I would call this tea caddy Museum quality. Stunning. It has the Austrian "bee hive" marked on the bottom.
