This eye catching plate is absolutely beautiful. The Pickard Studio Artist applied a wide band of gold on the rim of this plate. He then painted a wreath of dazzling wild violets of purples, dark pinks and white with dark centers. Added interspersed on the wreath of violets are wonderful green variegated leaves and stems. The background of the plate is a soft muted mixture of purples, greens, blues and yellows. In the center of the plate are five delicate white violets with deep purple centers and soft green stems forming a circle. The artist has accented some flowers petals with a thin outline of gold bring out the outstanding color of the flowers. The Artist ROBERT HESSLER painted for Pickard Studios from 1902 -1930. He was well known for his artistry or florals. This piece is entitled " Hessler Violet Bouquet" TM date: 1903-1905, as listed in the "Collector's Encyclopedia of Pickard China", by Alan B. Reed. This plate is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or crazing. This is a beautiful plate and would make a great gift for that special person.
