SALE Unbelievable RARE Aesthetic Japonesque Earthenware Pitcher 10'' tall ~ Cartouches and Floral~ Dragon / Serpent Handle ~ Attributed to Staffordshire England

This is a MUST HAVE for any Aesthetic collector! We have search high and low for this shaped pitcher and have yet to come up with a true maker of this ware. We attribute to a Staffordshire England maker due to the transfer decoration applied to this awesome piece. The shape of this pitcher is flat two sided with rounded ends. The handle has a serpent or dragon like head that attaches to the upper portion of the pitcher and has a twisted body that bows and attaches to the lower portion. The handle has been accented with gold along with a gold band on the upper rim and the base. The background is a wonderful warm cream color with polychrome decorations. Beautiful brown branches of pink, blue and yellow flowers decorate the body. Within the body are various round cartouches, scrolls, banners, fans and crescent. These items have cranes or herons, fish, pagoda, ships, shells and birds inside. The backgrounds within these decorations have wonderful pastel colors in almost a rainbow effect. Gold accents highlight the inner decorations. On the inside of one of the flat sides is a cartouche with the rainbow background and birds in flight. Around this are brown branches with green leaves and yellow flowers. There is a small chip under the rim and a five inch hairline crack down one side. The upper gold rim and the gold on the handle have seen some ware over the years but oh my, is this piece gorgeous! IT IS RARE TO FIND VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE IRONSTONE OR EARTHENWARE IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE

Backstamp: No Makers Mark but has a blue P and gold X and red 8434

Measures: 10" H x 9"w handle to spout, 5" depth
