Simple but awesome are the statements that describe this wonderful old pitcher. It has a beautiful soft cream background with a black transfer of grapes, vines and cartouches going around its bulbous middle. A geometric leaf design decorates the upper portion under one of the raised relief bands on the neck. A leaf design in black transfer has been applied down the handle. This piece is in excellent condition for its age, but it does have one small glaze flake on the inner lip and the transfer is slightly worn on the handle. There is a flaw on the base of this piece but most of it is glazed over so I’m not sure if it was done during the original firing or during the final decorating. Please see pictures. IT IS RARE TO FIND VINTAGE Earthenware IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IF PRESENT IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.

Backstamp: British Registry Diamond dates ca.1868 - approximately. Marked: Brownfield and Ivory impressed.

Measures: 10 1/2" H x 9 1/2" W
