The art work on this piece is truly unbelievable!! The artist has painted beautiful mums in pink, burgundy rust, orange and yellow accompanied with stems and leaves in various green, brown and gold colors. He has accented the pink one with white enamel. He has placed these beautiful flowers on the top and the sides of this piece. The artist has outlined and accented the flowers in gold paint giving them a more three dimensional look. He has added two small birds that appear to be flying around the flowers on the front and the sides. The background around the flowers and the birds is a creamy white, but the rest of the pieces background has been sponged painted with a beautiful deep gold color. The sides of this powder box also has daisy like blue flowers that are still faintly visible. The inside is a bright deep pink color and the gold sponge has been applied around the edges. The artist has initialed and dated the back with “LBW 1870”. There are no chips, hairlines or cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.

Backstamp: Bawo & Dotter Mark2
