What a beautiful pin. It does not give to heated pin, and is extremely hard so I believe it's carnelian set in unmarked sterling. The pin looks to have a safety clasp of sorts but there little push is not there, it does seem to clasp securely as is. It has two holes at center so it's possible it was a button converted to brooch? It is a beautiful vintage piece.
