Nice figure hand carved from single piece of boxwood or juniper giving it a rich chestnut tone and buttery soft texture. Stands 6.75 in. tall, marked China on base in yellow enamel. Distinctive lacquer box with handpainted tree of life motif. Believe this is Chinese, but it is not marked. Beautiful ox red color with amber undertones. 4.5 in. across, 3 in. tall, black interior and bottom. Believe this dates to 1920s or 30s. Very good condition. Black enamel on bottom has bubbled, most noticeable on interior. A few tiny nicks to finish on exterior. Nice piece for bedroom, office or living room.
