60s 1960s Vintage Floral Jeannette Alexander Wiggle Dress M

Cutest bold floral tweed vintage 60s dress from designer Jeannette Alexander. This one is a beauty! The print is so vibrant! The flower pattern is reminiscent of a 60s hippie dress in a much more refined style. The under bodice of the dress is green silky acetate. Attached to this is a tweed skirt with darts at the waist. The skirt is lined with the same green acetate. The bodice zips up the back. Attached to this is an over bodice in the matching tweed. The attached over bodice buttons up the back. It is trimmed in a soft, flannel like, green wool with a sweet bow.

Label: Jeannette Alexander

Jeannette Hunt Alexander Hyland is the daughter of designer Peggy Hunt. Alexander got her start in the clothing business during WWII when she thought she might be able to make money mass manufacturing shoulder pads. Based in Los Angeles, she was able to acquire hard to find fabric in New York and used it to make her shoulder pads. She sold them to department stores and manufacturers across the United States. Just after the war she began her own label, around 1947 or 48. Her first line was a simple collection of skirts, then she added a few dresses. Within a short time she developed a full line that was successful until the early seventies when she retired. Jeannette Alexander is most noted for her lovely print day dresses. Thank you to the Vintage Fashion Guild label resource for this information.
