Gorgeous Victorian beaded and hand woven coat of arms crest shield. Amazing detail in this hand-worked piece. Beads are glass seed beads. There is a lion at the top with a crown that is all beads. The leaves are all beadwork. The interior of the shield includes another lion with crown, birds, cross, sun with face, turkey feet and many other beautiful items. The back of the shield is silk which has water stains but it has not damaged the front. The front has large sections of loss of the red handwoven background and some spots have lost its red color. The piece is mounted over a wood frame. The piece is 19 1/2" wide and is 24" high. The lion at the top is 5 1/4" high. This is a beautiful piece with glass seed beads. Even with the loss of a few beads and some areas of the handwoven background, this is still a very impressive piece. I do needlework and I cannot begin to imagine how long it took to complete this piece. The pictures do not do this piece justice.
