This late Edwardian interpretation of the buckle ring is as august in weight as it is substantial in width. Solidly constructed of 18k yellow gold, this ring is fully hallmarked and supports a most distinctive look with its three-dimensional hasp and keeper.

A deuce of old mine cut diamonds (about .03 points and .10 points) flank the keeper. Mounted in a gypsy setting developed in the late 1800s, the gems are placed into a recess until flush with the metal surface. Engraved designs in the shape of rays are cut around the diamonds in a star-like pattern. This fine detail creates the illusion of even greater shine and fire from each of the sparkling bright stones.

Measurements: 7/16 of an inch (1.1 cm) in length north to south on the hand by 5/16 of an inch (0.8 cm) in width. This ring has a weight of 7.4 grams (4.8 dwt).

Ring Size: US 10-1/4 (UK U; Euro 20, 63 mm) and can easily be sized.

Hallmarks: English hallmarks for 18k, Birmingham, P date letter for 1914. In addition, maker's mark of W.L, and another mark of 36.

Condition: Very good; evidence on inside of old resizing.

Date & Origin: Circa 1914 and is English in origin.

Note: All diamond weights are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.

Item ID: 11786
