This pair of early Art Deco earrings demonstrates the timeless appeal that diamonds have held. Appearing at first glance as “simple”, they make a dramatic statement. Eloquently detailed in their simplicity, two old European cut diamonds of about 1.35 carats (color H-I and J-K; clarity VS2-SI1) are set with a platinum topped 14k gold bezel of Spartan design mounted within yet and seemingly floating above a circular element with linear supports. Diamond surmounts of an estimated .03 carats each suspend the drop with a miniature linked chain providing subtle and graceful movement. Lever back ear wires of 14k yellow gold properly finish these superb earrings. Altogether the total estimated diamond weight for the pair is a grand 2.76 carats of fire and brilliance.
Condition: Very good; light wear commensurate with age and use.
Measurements: 11/16 of an inch (1.8 cm) in length by 3/8 of an inch (1 cm) at the widest. This pair of antique earrings has a weight of 3.8 grams (2.4 dwt).
Date: Circa 1920
Note: All diamond weights, color grades and clarity are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.
