Details: This very impressive two-handled urn (or vase) features hand enameled gold gilt and platinum poppies accented by a stylized flowing ribbon in dark red that extends from top to bottom of the front side, showing early art nouveau transitional characteristics. A gold gilt stemmed poppy also graces the back side of the urn. (Of special note, the 19th Century Bohemian glass makers often used platinum rather than silver to avoid the problem of tarnishing over time -- just one of many details that added to their penchant for excellence.) The outside green satin glass is cased over clear; the bottom of the urn shows only the clear glass. A remnant of the Harrach signature numbering system, in gold gilt, remains on the clear glass bottom. The rim is ground and polished.
